Hickory Tussock Moth Caterpillar

This caterpillar stopped wiggling long enough for me to capture this shot the other day.

This Hickory Tussock Moth Caterpillar (white caterpillar) will eventually metamorphose into a Lophocampa caryae...or the hickory tiger moth.

If curious, check out PennState Extension or you can learn a bit more info from Wikipedia.

These caterpillars are very apparent in the fall. If you have sensitive skin, beware...the hairs may irritate the skin.

Tiny Vintage Pottery Jars

I adore these tiny little vintage pottery jars I found! I don't know their age, but they both have markings on the bottom.

I'm aware that the crazing on the pottery; the tiny cracks, are often due to age, but I embrace it for the decorative effect and think it adds to the charm.

The two little jars are 3 inches and 5 inches tall.

Pine Cone Still Life

Pine cones scattering the woodland floor are a symbol of autumn and I couldn't resist gathering these up and placing them into this vintage Syroco bowl I have.

Syroco wood is a unique material created by the Syracuse Ornamental Company known for its resemblance to wood. The molded wood pulp material was popular from the 1930's till the 1960's and often used in home decor products like mirrors, wall art and furniture.
