Pottery Art Vessels

Found these simple, yet beautiful pottery pieces while out 'junkin'. And they are very useful vessels as you can see :)

Two appear to be thrown stoneware pieces; the vessel with the bamboo handle and the mug. The smaller vessel with Asian characters appears to have been hand thrown and glazed.

The vessel with the bamboo handle and the smaller glazed vessel have potter maker's marks.

The mug was signed by Ron Labaire '84. I did a bit of research and learned he was a potter for many years and was owner of 'Labaire Pottery Gallery of Fine Crafts'. He passed away in 2021.

Building A Village...one dwelling at a time

Built another little dwelling... J.R.R. Tolkien's quote describing Elrond's house comes to mind; 'whether you liked food or sleep or story-telling or singing, or just sitting and thinking best, or a pleasant mixture of them all. Merely to be there was a cure for weariness.'

My collection of tiny houses are starting to resemble the villages on the small island of Burano in the Venetian Lagoon in Northern Italy which is known for its brightly colored homes.

This tiny abode measures 7"H x 4.5"W.

Thin Green Felt

Shot these photos this morning on my walk. Clumps of moss growing on decayed tree stumps sometimes described as thin green felt.

According to Britanica there are over 12,000 species distributed throughout the world. Mosses existed as early as 298.9 million to 251.9 million years ago and more than 100 species have been identified from fossils of the Paleogene and Neogene periods (66 million to 2.58 million years ago).

Mosses are distributed throughout the world except in salt water and are commonly found in moist shady locations. They are best known for those species that carpet woodland and forest floors.

National Golden Retriever Day

It’s National Golden Retriever Day 💛 So Goldie decided it was only right to speak on behalf of Golden Retrievers everywhere.
