Zhen Xian Bao ~ Chinese Thread Book

I created this Chinese Thread Book following instructions in 'Ruth Smith's Folded Secrets -Paper Folding Projects'. She had a series of 4 Booklets I purchased. In this one I used Kraft Paper for the base of the boxes and decorated with coordinating scrapbook paper. The paper belt strap closure I made out of washi tape which is a Hedi Kyle Design and you can find a tutorial here on Paula B Krieg's channel. And if you're interested, 'Paula B Krieg' on YouTube also offers a Full Playlist on Zhen Xian Bao Tutorials.

If you'd like to see a few other Origami Chinese Thread books I created, I posted them on  February 18, 2023 with photos and included a bit of history about these books. Below is a short video of one of them showing the interesting interactive structure.

Found an old weathered wood plank that was just the thing I was looking for.
I painted myself a Vintage Laundry Sign, I distressed it and hung it up in my laundry room!

I'm always up for a bit of history. If you're interested in learning about antique household equipment and housekeeping as a part of social history check out

I created this 5 x 7 inch Multi Foldout Folio Journal by following a tutorial for the basic structure on Liz The Paper Project. I altered mine slightly. I used solid color cardstock for my base. Two Mini Boho Junk Journals

The basic structure for the first little Journal/Notepad in the video below was inspired by Art by Pamela G which I altered slightly. I printed a digital print onto Rice Paper from Heart and Soulful and created my cover adhering it to my base made from a manilla file folder. I made two signatures using assorted papers. The little booklet has a total of 24 pages. I stitched the signatures using a 3-hole pamphlet stitch onto a piece of self-adhesive denim fabric I had and adhered it to the inside spine of the journal. I distressed the cover, cards and paper edges. Made a few journal cards and a tag with a strand of stone chip beads and used torn batik fabric for a tie.

The second little Boho styled journal I constructed with a beaded spine using a downloaded digital from Heart and Soulful which I toned down a bit and printed it onto linen fabric for my cover and glued it onto chipboard. I used handmade ivory papers with Aster flowers with deckled edges which are printable and writable. Great little notepad measures 4.5 x 5 inches. Has 3 signatures sewn in using a 3-hole pamphlet stitch. Booklet has 30 pages. I was inspired by a tutorial from Heart and Soulful and designed my version altering it slightly.

Renaissance Journal ~ Handmade Papers

Another Book in a Box! Love the idea of a book in a box! Makes a thoughtful gift for a journaler. This booklet measures 4 x 7 inches and fits nicely into this lovely lined, multi-patterned, decorative, wood faux book box. Simple one signature booklet with 20 pages stitched with an easy 3-hole pamphlet stitch using waxed thread. I printed these gorgeous papers from Medieval Mirage onto both sides of the printable handmade papers (Watercolor Recycled Cotton Deckled Edge Papers). The papers are so beautiful they didn't need any more adornments! Makes a lovely writing journal in a giftable box! Micron Archive Ink pens work well on the papers. Below is a short video.

Bohemian Journal ~ Handmade Papers

I had this lovely blue print decorative wood faux book box with an interior lining and new just the book I wanted to make for it! I made a 4 x 7 inch journal with one signature and 20 pages. I printed these ethereal, dreamy digitals from LianaScrap onto two different types of printable handmade papers. I used Laser & Inkjet Lokta Natural Papers AND Watercolor Recycled Cotton Deckled Edge Papers. Since the papers accepted inkjet so well they are also writable. Micron archival ink pens work really well! The papers are so gorgeous I didn't need to embellish! Makes a lovely writing journal with its' own keepsake box! Below is a short video, enjoy!

Mini Celestial Journal

This is a simple, easy to assemble tab bound mini journal I made using washi tape and folded papers. The washi tape tab binding holds the text block together. I glued the first and last page of the text block to the inside of the front and back of the cover. The cover was made using two separate pieces of handmade paper and another piece cut to size and glued to the cover pieces to create the spine.

I made a little box (3 inch sq.) for the book (2 x 2.5 inches) using double-sided scrapbook paper from Stamperia called Cosmos. You can find an easy to follow tutorial to make a gift box any size at  Crafting For Almost Everyone

Strike While The Iron Is Hot!

As another year rolls around spent an evening going down memory lane and sorting through some old photos.

About 20 years ago my husband and I took a Blacksmith Class together. I completed my first wonky "S" hook! It was a great experience, but not a craft I was interested in pursuing...quite arduous especially in the outdoor summer heat!

My hubby continues the craft as a hobby. He enjoys crafting rustic utilitarian items.

Zine Obsessed!!

I've been making zines! I've never made any before, but I was inspired by Katie Gebely and her colorful, abstract zines over at Col...
